Glee. 2x16: Original Song.

Naya Rivera should have her hair more up in a ponytail, because *unf*!
Brittany: Hey. Can I ask you a question? We used to be really close, and I really miss being your friend.
Santana: I'm still waiting for the question.
Brittany: Did I do something wrong?
Santana: No, look, I don't know. Did you? All I know is you blew me off to be with Stubbles McCripplePants. It's fine. It's your loss. 'Cause now I get the chance to write an *awesome* heterosexual song about Sam, that we're gonna sing at Regionals.
Brittany: Wait, you're still dating Sam? But you told me you were in love with me.
Santana: I honestly don't know what I was thinking. Britt, can you stop staring at me? I can't remember my locker combo.
Okay, I loved this exchange between them. It was actually --gasp-- in character for them to react this way after the events of "Sexy". Also, the "I can't remember my locker combo" line? Oh, you are so smitten, Santana, you poor fool. ;)
- "You Oughta Know". Really, Santana? Oh me, oh my, are you ever a bitter young scorned woman!
- Santana was serious with the choice of "Trouty Mouth"? For serious? Why, yes, it was the most *awesome* heterosexual love song of all times! It really puts words on your great straight love! *snorts* Santana, baby, go back to the queer side of things.
- Faberry interaction! I actually really enjoyed the piano scene -- maybe people are saying Quinn was a bitch or something, but this, right there, we got to *see* Quinn's motivations! It was like the most brutally honest pep-talk Rachel had to be exposed to, but it wasn't done out of malice. This wasn't a triumphant or cruel Quinn -- this was sad, lost Quinn who was taking the steps she were, because what else can she do? I really liked her in this scene. Also, it reaffirmed why I think Faberry would be a good couple: Quinn would tell Rachel how things are, pulling her out off that fantasy world she's going on in her head at times. It'd be healthy for Rachel.
- See, I'm quite fine if this checklist will play out on the show: Gay kiss checklist. ☑ Klaine kiss. ☐ Brittana kiss. ☐ Faberry. We've had the Klaine kiss, it's *only* fair we get our Brittana kiss *now!* (I don't believe in a million years we're getting a Faberry one, but, hey, a girl can dream!)
- Okay, I'll admit it. The Klaine kiss... was kind of cute? But I still want my Brittana one, damnit!

Date: 2011-03-21 10:26 pm (UTC)I know! What the hell is this, Glee? Continuity?! I thought you didn't know what that *was*! ;)
Santana says "You Oughta Know" is her favourite song, staring straight at Brittany as she says it (she's seated at the piano). It's a ridiculously angry song by Alanis Morisette -- about a woman being scorned by her lover. ;)
We can't give up. If Klaine gets a kiss, it's only fair Brittana gets one too. They've known each other for a much longer time. If not, someone's got to get a petition rolling. :P

Date: 2011-03-21 10:39 pm (UTC)It's like.... the writers have .... memories or something??!!!?!
ooohhh!! i so have to find that song and listen to it!! then rewatch! :D
It IS only fair, but... i just get the vibe that HeMo isn't into it that much compared to Neya! and i have nothing against her AT ALLl, I LOVE brittany and i LOVE HeMo they are my faves in the show (along with santana) but ... i don't know..... please please please prove me wrong glee, please!!
and also i think ryan murphy is a bit of a douche who needs to think more before he speaks!! *shrug*

Date: 2011-03-21 10:47 pm (UTC)Why have they decided to have them *now* all of a sudden? It would help make Glee a better show if they could sort of keep remembering the way they write the different characters.
While you're at it, make sure to check the lyrics. If you switch the gender pronouns in the text, you kind of get a clear idea of how angry Santana is. ;)
Well, they do have a fanbase - and when they've [media] talked about the portrayal of gay teens that Glee is doing, they also almost always throw in 'lesbian' there too - meant as in Glee is portraying both Kurt/Blaine, but now also Brittana. But... let's see. Nothing else we can do. I want it just as much as you do. :P
Yep, RM doesn't strike me as being a... how to say, 'brilliant, charming' guy. Maybe it has something to do with the unnecessary focusing on Kurt... You've got other characters too, y'know.

Date: 2011-03-21 11:38 pm (UTC)Wow i should have remebered that song!! The original angry girl of music!! Reminds me of high school though which isnt so good!! See if they werent so fixated with doing new popular songs so much they should so have santana sing this!! And they should do it like they did with rachel in season 1where they had her singing to herself while watching the person she was singing about (if that makes sense!)
I really hope they dont fuck it up, im slightly worried they will :( but thats my ever present pesimistic side!! :)
I think thats partly what bothers me about him too, ALL the kurt stuff where it turned into the kurt show and then all the 'we're not that kind of show' stuff when it came to brittana and the more recent 'are you happy now?'
i think he has a responsibility to gay women/girls as much as guys to portray what theyre going through and to dismiss the girls so much and so blatantly is just ridiculous and to me seemed quite diliberate!!

Date: 2011-03-22 11:50 am (UTC)Yeah, I get what you're saying. And, yes, they should go back to doing that -- I mean, for one thing it gave us Quinn acting kind of queer in her song, like, a lot, so only more of that, por favor. ;P
Well, I'm a pessimist too, but sometimes people can surprise you. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt for now.
It certainly isn't a good thing, that's for sure. I just wish Ryan would get his act together. :-/
